VEG BOX SCHEMES

If you are looking for a regular supply of seasonal organic fruit vegetables it is possible to sign up for a veg box scheme.

On ECO LOCAL ALMERIA we will be listing details of any veg box schemes and
the areas which they cover. Two are listed below.

In the area around Sorbas and Turre there is scheme run by Jaki.

To quote her current leaflet “Every box contains a selection of seasonally available,
locally grown, freshly picked veg, fruit and herbs …12 euros for a week’s worth of
veggies! (Box size can be varied, as can the contents, to suit dietary requirements)”

Jaki can also supply free range eggs (2.50) raw honey (6) goat’s cheese (7) milk (2)
yoghurt (1.50) and cold pressed olive oil.

On a larger scale there is the distribution service of Ecoindalo. A co-operative of
small growers, based in El Ejido, which gathers and distributes organic fruit and veg
from growers in the area to local consumers. Ecoindalo specialises in local varieties.

Ecoindalo es una Cooperativa de Pequeños productores agricolas. Disponen de mas
de cuarenta referencias, fundamentalmente frutas y verduras. Una de sus funciones
principales se centra en la recuperación de variedades locales.

CAJAS ESTÁNDAR

Caja de 9 Kg. de fruta y verdura. 20 euros.
Caja de 12 Kg. de fruta y verdura. 25 euros.
Caja de 15 Kg. de fruta y verdura. 30 euros.

ZONAS Y DÍAS DE REPARTO

ALMERÍA: De lunes a jueves de 17:30 a 20:00 h. Viernes al medio día.

ROQUETAS DE MAR Y AGUADULCE: Jueves por la tarde.

PENÍNSULA (Inclusive las zonas de Madrid fuera de la ruta de reparto propio.) A través de
agencia cualquier día de la semana.

Alejandro Cantón, gerente de Ecoindalo, explica la filosofía básica de la empresa
familiar: "Nuestra intención es acortar las distancias entre el productor y el
consumidor final, evitando que exista tanta diferencia entre lo que percibe el
agricultor por su trabajo y lo que paga el ama de casa por esos mismos productos en la
tienda".
